OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!

I CAN’T WAIT!

I don’t get the plot yet, maybe if they used words that didn’t all sound the same.

But look at how good the combat scenes are, eeeeeeeeeee! Well all of it is just beautiful, I’m so excited.

I will find a PS3 from somewhere before April 2010, don’t worry.

True story.

True story.

Believe it — Sony just announced at E3 that Square-Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy XIV in 2010. The game will apparently be a sequel of sorts to XI, as it’ll be the second trip of the series into the land of Massively Multiplayer Online games. It’ll be available on PS3, and they called it the “only console,” so a PC release is not out of the question.

There’s an all-CG trailer which we’ll try to have soon, and no news on gameplay or really anything else. But yes, that just happened: not only did Square-Enix announce a XIV before XIII has come out, but it’s an MMO… and they’re saying 2010.

Are your seatbelts fastened? Get ready, Playstation fans. This morning, the ESRB updated with a new listing, and it’s one you might be pleased to hear. That’s right, Final Fantasy VII has been rated for the PS3 and PSP.

It’s hard to believe that this legendary RPG has existed for over 12 years, spawning spin offs (Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core), movies (Advent Children) and countless bad cosplay suits, but never a true remake. Rumors have been surfacing for a remake for years, but this addition of the PS1 Classics version of the game could mean that an HD Final Fantasy VII is a lot farther off than we might like. While no date has been confirmed as of yet, the fact that Advent Children Complete releases in the US the day of Sony’s E3 press conference means that Tuesday is as good a time as any to expect this landmark title to hit the Playstation Store. You’re free to keep the remake wishes coming, but it looks like we won’t be seeing one for quite some time.

Tetsuya Nomura updates us on Final Fantasy XIII

Tetsuya Nomura spoke rather candidly with Famitsu earlier this week, and translations have turned up online.

Firstly, he notes that a new Final Fantasy 13 video will be shown at this year’s E3. Whether this will be a brand new trailer, or just an expanded version of earlier footage is uncertain at this point, but we’re leaning towards the first of those options.

Still on the topic of Final Fantasy 13, Nomura mentioned that he is no longer working on the game on a development-basis - he has finished his primary work on designs, and now only needs to return for advertising and ‘synchronization’ (presumably with the rest of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series).

In regards to Final Fantasy Versus 13, this is Nomura’s major project at the moment, and he says that the team are working hard at refining the final version of the battle system and the world map at the moment. He says that each city/town will have a day/night version, and that the world map is so large he can’t remember exactly where the first location is.

He compares the world map to the classic Final Fantasy 7 map, and states that although the team developing the game was the exact team responsible for Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2, many of the members were responsible for Final Fantasy 7 and 8.

Lastly, he mentioned that Square will be making some significant revelations regarding PSone classics soon available on the PS Store.

We’ll get back to you with any further developments!
